Topic MOBILITY
In this workshop, we will work on Mobility in Taipei/Taiwan. Mobility has been a paradigm of innovation since the industrial revolution (think of cars, trains, communication including all infrastructure and services) and is one of the reasons for nowadays economical wealth.
For this workshop, we think about mobility (in Taiwan) in its widest sense. Mobility is the state of being in motion. Mobility is about making connections in time and space possible. It is about bringing things and people closer together. It is about the transportation of people, information, news, food, materials. It is about connecting people, products, goods. It is about speed and reducing distance.
Challenge
The availability of services, goods and information everywhere is enabling us a growing mobility – we can do (nearly) whatever we want to do wherever and whenever we want to do. This has a lot of advantages – but some people feel loosing their „base“ – a typical place or time to do something specific (eat, work, talk, play…).
In this workshop, we will observe and analyse this phenomenon. We will also look out for new spaces or places, situations, products and objects that describe this situation!
We will think about new solutions for sustainable ways of mobility and connections. You as a designer will re-think and re-define mobility. Show where this might lead.
Sustainability
There a three crucial aspects of sustainability. We are more and more aware of the fact that a deep understanding of all three levels is key for success in innovation processes:
- Economical
The economic development – growth is still the paradigm. Economical long-term goals differ from shortterm goals. Efficiency is a long-term question. Making maximum profit is not the core resaon for futire innovation – at least if they should be sustainable. - Ecological
The most obvious dimension of sustainability is ecology. Environmental protection, but also the environmental impact of business activities. It is about sustaining and enhancing natural ressources. - Social
The Social impacts (on human beings and the society), the enterpise impact on society are getting more and more important. The ethic values. Sustaining and enhancing social ressources. The social wellbeing. Encourage for pro bono work.
